i-drop help

The i-drop technology enables many users to literally drag and drop a detail directly into their CAD drawings.

  • This functionality is presently supported by AutoCAD 2000i and later, and ArchiCAD Version 9 and later.
  • In order to use this feature, you must use an ActiveX-enabled browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer on the Microsoft Windows Operating System, and have the i-drop indicator installed.

AutoCAD help

The details are provided in AutoCAD Release 2000 format.

The use of these CAD details with AutoCAD is accomplished in a number of ways:
The icons use an application named i-drop where the CAD file can be dragged directly from the page into the AutoCAD drawing. These will appear with a red cross through them if you you do not have the i-drop indicator installed -see above.

  • This application is installed with AutoCAD 2000i and above.
  • AutoCAD 2004 installs the i-drop extension which behaves differently when using standard idrop.
  • The i-drop technology will work with AutoCAD 2000 LT and above but not with Release 14 or AutoCAD LT 98
  • These icons can be dragged directly into any open CAD drawing as a block.

The details can also be placed in the drawings by the "insert" command directly from the directory you have downloaded the file to.
The detail can be placed by the command "dxfin" from the directory you have downloaded the file to..
The details can be dragged and dropped into the drawings from Windows Explorer.
The details may be accessed using "Design Centre", and dragged and dropped from tool palettes.
